Visit from Karl the Fireman!

Leah's daddy is a fireman and he came to school to tell about his job. He explained how we can identify his uniform with the fire service crest. Karl has lots of parts to his uniform as it protects him when he is dealing with an emergancy situation. He has to respond to fires, help people who have been in an accident and to rescue people from the water. He has to keep fit as the uniform is very heavy and he has to climb ladders while carrying hoses or cutters.

We tried on parts of his uniform and showed him the fire assembly points for the children in the Nursery. The children ran on the spot to keep fit and we checked to see who knows their address if they have to call for help. Check if your child knows their address.

Karl told the children about the importance of clearing away their toys each night so they have a clear escape route!!
